The 2022 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Kyle Hamilton 2022 NFL Draft Profile.

Kyle Hamilton Background

Position: Safety

Size: 6-foot-4, 219 pounds

Class: Junior

2021 stats: 34 total tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, 4 passes defended (in 7 games played)

Hamilton was highly-ranked as a recruit out of high school, but even outdid what he was projected to do at Notre Dame. He has now declared for the 2022 NFL Draft.

As a highly-recruited player out of Georgia, Hamilton chose to play for the Fighting Irish. He played a lot as a freshman and started one game. Hamilton finished his freshman season with 41 total tackles, four interceptions and six passes defended. Notre Dame finished the season 11-2 with a win in the Camping World Bowl that season. He entered the starting lineup as a sophomore and had 63 total tackles, one interception and six passes defended. The Fighting Irish made it to the College Football Playoff, but lost in the semifinal that season. For his junior season, Hamilton was only able to play in seven games before missing the rest of the season with a knee injury. He still had 34 tackles, three interceptions and four passes defended. The Fighting Irish won 11 games during the 2021 college football season, but struggled in the Fiesta Bowl without Hamilton, losing to Oklahoma State.

The injury is likely a minor setback for Hamilton, who proved to be an impact player at the collegiate level. He is now a projected early first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Kyle Hamilton Strengths

Hamilton has unique size for a pro safety. He stands 6-foot-4 and 219 pounds, which will immediately make him one of the biggest safeties in the NFL. His size allows him to come down and play the run in the box, but he also has extra length to combat incoming passes.

He has great coverage. Hamilton has great range, which allows him to do several things. He has long strides and covers ground quickly. His ability to play as the single-high safety makes him unique, but he can also take a deep half of the field. Hamilton can be a big tool for a defense because he can cover in man to man, specifically against tight ends because of his size and speed.

His awareness and football IQ are both really good. Hamilton is fast physically, but he also can react quickly because he sees the field well. To go along with that, he anticipates well, which helps him make a break on the ball. His ability to diagnose plays is among the best in the class.

Kyle Hamilton Weaknesses

Hamilton plays very aggressively and often times it works out. Sometimes he can give up big plays though because he takes risks and will leave his assignment. He can bite on double moves, play-action passes and trick plays because of his aggressiveness.

While he is usually a good tackler, there are times where Hamilton doesn’t finish plays. He has given up some extra yardage because he doesn’t wrap up all the way. Wrapping up and making good form tackles will go a long way for Hamilton.

He was only able to play in seven games during his junior season at Notre Dame. It was a knee injury and there wasn’t too much information released about it. There will be a lot of interest in Hamilton’s medical situation heading into the draft.
